Tour Plan
Day 1: Machame Gate to Machame Camp

The adventure begins at Machame Gate, where registration is completed, and the trek starts. The trail winds through a lush rainforest with towering trees and vibrant wildlife. The first day concludes at Machame Camp (2,835 meters), a peaceful site at the edge of the forest.

Day 2: Machame Camp to Shira Camp

Leaving the rainforest behind, trekkers ascend into the moorland zone with stunning vistas of Mount Meru and the Shira Plateau. The day ends at Shira Camp (3,750 meters), where the temperatures drop and the terrain becomes more rugged.

Day 3: Shira Camp to Barranco Camp via Lava Tower

This day is critical for acclimatization. Trekkers ascend to Lava Tower (4,600 meters), where they experience high altitudes before descending to Barranco Camp (3,900 meters). The “climb high, sleep low” method is key to acclimatization and prepares climbers for the summit ahead.

Day 4: Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp

The day begins with a climb up the Barranco Wall, a challenging yet rewarding section requiring some light scrambling. The trail then flattens, leading to Karanga Camp (3,995 meters), with stunning views of glaciers and the southern slopes of Kilimanjaro.

Day 5: Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp

The journey continues through a barren alpine desert to Barafu Camp (4,673 meters), the base camp for the summit. Trekkers rest here in preparation for the midnight ascent.

Day 6: Barafu Camp to Uhuru Peak and descend to Mweka Camp

The most challenging day begins just after midnight. Climbers ascend to Stella Point (5,745 meters) on the crater rim and then push on to Uhuru Peak (5,895 meters), the highest point in Africa. After celebrating the achievement, the descent begins, ending at Mweka Camp (3,068 meters) for a well-earned rest.

Day 7: Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate

The final descent takes you through lush rainforests to Mweka Gate, where you receive your summit certificate. Transportation will take you back to Moshi for rest and celebration.
