1. When is the Best Time To Visit Tanzania?

Every time of the year has its pros and cons and also every person is different, there is no correct
choice. But one thing that’s for sure: Tanzania is beautiful everyday!
Tanzania is situated close to the equator and the Indian Ocean, meaning that its weather patterns
are equatorial and tropical. There are two distinct seasons: wet and dry. The wet season is the
rainy season, while the dry season is sunny and sometimes hot. Each season has its pros and cons:

 

  • January – March
    This are the hottest time of year. This season is generally dry, and is one of the most
    popular times for safaris. Parks may feel a bit crowded around New Year. From midMarch
    starts the raining season. You can find: Good Prices, Lush and Green Landscapes, New born and  Puppies, Great Birdwatching, Intimate safari, No Crowds.
  • April – May
    Mid-March through May is the “long rainy season”, usually the sun makes an appearance in
    the afternoon and evenings are serene and peaceful. Animal are lively and active in the
    parks. However, some rough roads due to flooding or deep mud are not safe to pass
    through. You can find: Low prices, Green Landscapes, Fewer tourists, Good Discounts,
    More Intimate safari.
  • June – September
    This period is considered the “cold” season in Tanzania. While for locals, the weather is cold
    those visiting from other climates find the weather pleasant and fresh. Bring a jacket for
    chilly mornings and night. As the dry season begins, this is the most popular travel season.
    You can find: Medium to High Prices, Peak season, Great Migration, More Activities to do,
    Perfect condition, Great Wildlife, Lower mosquitos.
  • October – December
    The short rains generally fall sometime between October and December. October is also
    the time when the jacaranda trees across East Africa bloom, a truly spectacle. You can find:
    Lower Prices, Short Rains and Green Landscapes, Fewer Crowds.

 

Dry Season: January, February, June, July, August, September, October, End December.
Pros: Pleasant temperatures of 25-27 °C with sunny, rain-free days, Popular tourist time, Great
Migration in Serengeti and Masai Mara crossing, dry grasslands and animals around watering holes
and river, Fewer mosquitoes, better road conditions, Good for Kilimanjaro climb.
Conts: Higher Price, More tourist, Crowded, Accommodation tends to sell quick!
Wet Season: March, April, May, November, Beginning December.
Pros: Nature is vibrant and colorful with blooming flowers and green forests and grasslands, Lower
Prices and discount, Park are less busy,.
Conts: Some park roads may be inaccessible, Mosquitoes, Wet Days, Some activities will effects by
weather.
So, what is the best time? June to October and December to February.

Sure! In Tanzania the regulation of tourism favors local tour operator like us. This is to protect the

a bit of common sense.
Don’t flaunt any valuables, avoid walking alone in poor area or during night, at night we
recommend travelers take a hotel taxi instead of walking or “private taxi”, on public and crowded
space leave cash and other valuables at the hotel. Avoid contact with “strangers” or “beach boys”
but always be gentle. Do not leave your luggage unattended.
All of Africa Fantasy’s guests are accompanied by a driver or guide who is familiar with the areas,
and helps to prevent and protect against all types of misadventures. Ask your guide if you have any
doubt and always do not put you and other at risk.
Kids are welcome but we recommended above 5 years, because safari it is also long time on cars
on bumpy, dusty roads, few and long distance for toilet, and this can be tiring even for adults.

For the vast majority of travellers to this beautiful country, you do not need this vaccine! According
to the World Health Organization’s classification, Tanzania currently poses a low risk of yellow
fever. If you reside in a country with no risk of yellow fever, then you do not need the yellow fever
vaccine as part of your necessary travel vaccinations.
Proof of yellow fever vaccination is only required upon arrival if you are travelling from a country
with a risk of the virus or you’re transiting through one of the yellow fever high-risk countries for a
period of 12 hours or more.
We advice to contact or see GP, travel clinic or doctor at least 6 to 8 weeks before you’re due to
travel and ask about Tanzania vaccination requirements and General travel vaccinations.

All travellers are advise to be fully vaccinated against COVID (This is not mandatory and you will
not be asked to show proof of vaccination).
It’s advisable to be up-to-date on routine vaccinations, such as measles-mumps-rubella (MMR),
diphtheria-tetanus-pertussis, varicella (chickenpox), polio. Healthcare professionals also
recommend additional vaccines, including hepatitis A and B, typhoid, and, in certain cases rabies.
We advice to contact or see GP, travel clinic or doctor at least 6 to 8 weeks before you’re due to
travel and ask about Tanzania vaccination requirements and General travel vaccinations.

Most international travellers will need a VISA to travel to Tanzania. Your VISA can be requested
online through the official visa website from the Tanzanian government (Please use only this
official link!): https://visa.immigration.go.tz/
It is also possible to get a tourist or business visa for a single entry on arrival but required more
time.
Costs is different per nationality, for example: Europe is 50 USD, for US citizen the price is 100 USD
and you need multi-entry visa.
Remember to apply when you book the travel or at least 4 week before travel.

Passports should have at least six months of validity after the final day of travel and 1-2 pages free
of stamp.

A travel insurance it is always a good idea when you are travelling, its provides peace of mind by
covering medical emergencies, trip cancellations, damage or lost luggage, flight delay and other
events.
Remember that in some remote areas access to medical facilities and other services can be
limited. IN ALL OUR TRIP ITS INCLUDED AMREF Flying Doctors, but remember to have a good
medical insurance because AMREF Flying Doctors covers only emercencies and trasportation to
hospital. We can provided also H24 Nurse cover with you during your journey, ask our staff.
Zanzibar Mandatory Travel Insurance
If you are travelling to Zanzibar from October 2024 you are obligated to obtain The Zanzibar
Mandatory Travel Insurance. Each traveller needs to apply for this insurance in advance. After
applied you receive a QR code to be shown upon arrival.
The basic coverage of this mandatory travel insurance includes the cost of emergency medical
expenses, repatriation expenses, personal accidents, delays, theft and loss baggage and more. To

The local currency is the Tanzanian shilling TZS.
US dollars (Check that are new USD banknotes issued after 2009!) and Euros are also accepted in
most places in Tanzania and you can also ask the price in US or Euros, but Euros is not always
accept while US dollars is always accept.
Tips: bring with you small currency (1, 2, 5, 10, 20 USD or Euros) it is will be more easy to pay and
negotiate the price.

In Tanzania, you can pay with a bank card, at least in places where they regularly deal with tourists,
such as hotels, tour operators, and national parks and some shops. However, you need to consider
commissions and taxes around 3,5 %, plus you can have some charged or fee for difference
currencies from your bank, for more information ask your bank.

There are over 100 different languages spoken in Tanzania.
The official languages are Swahili and English.
Swahili is spoken by almost everyone, English is spoken in the tourism sector but also a lots of
people are speaking it. Ask your guide to teach the commons words in Swahili!

We ask for a 20% (non refundable) deposit in order to secure the booking (Lodge, Hotels, and
Activities). The final balance can be done 6 weeks before the date of start or on you arrival in a
variety of ways:
• Bank Transfer
• Credit/debit card (this as an additional 3,5% of commission) by the link that we send to you
• Using WISE (cheapest method)
• By Cash
It’s importance for us that your money is safe when booking with us. All our payment are secure
and protect by Bank and site uses a secure sockets layer (SSL).

It’s essential to consider the activities you plan to undertake and the time of year you’re visiting. Lightweight, breathable clothing in neutral colors, sturdy and comfortable shoes, sunglasses, mid- layer jacket and a wide-brimmed hat are must-haves. In the evening or if you plan to go in higher altitudes a windbreaker and waterproof jacket it is essentials.

 

Don’t forget essentials like sunscreen, insect repellent, power adapter, binoculars for wildlife viewing (we provided one in every car). Leave at home sentimental items or jewellery.

 

We raccomend to bring a First Aid Kit and general medications.

Tipping is not mandatory but is generally appreciated as a way of showing gratitude for good service.

 

For Guides, if you received good service a typical tip is 10-20 USD per day per person, they work extremely long hours and tips are helping their income. Anything you can afford is appreciated.

 

In accommodation/restaurant and other service is also discretionary, Most accommodation have a tip box in reception. Depend on the level of service, we recommend 5-10 USD per day.
